Aubrey O'Day's former "Making the Band" co-stars have already sounded off about the singer's Playboy photo shoot. Now, fans are reacting to the singer's provocative magazine cover and photo shoot, which hits newsstands this Friday.
MTV News brought our slightly censored versions of the Playboy photos to Times Square to see what the public thinks of her revealing pictorial, and received a positive response from most.
"I think she can do whatever she wants to do. It's her body. She can show it off. It's Playboy magazine; how is it risqué?" Melba DelOrbe said. Her friend added, "If you have a nice body, you're free to show it if you feel like showing it."
Two fans immediately responded with an "OMG!" when they were shown the pictures, adding, "It's all right. For Playboy, it's not that bad. For Danity Kane, [her career] is ruined. But sex sells."
But a bunch of fans in Times Square disagreed, saying it wouldn't hurt her career at all. "She's beautiful," Marcella Patruccio exclaimed. "She's very beautiful. She's gorgeous. I think she'll go places, really."
"You can still be comfortable with your sexuality and look classy. Playboy is supposed to be classy and she kinda ruined it," amandam86 commented on the pictures posted on MTV.com.
"Homegirl is odd these days; but she looks dope on the cover pic!" added Cjcarpen, another commenter on the site.
One fan, donovan4realworld22, felt that her nude pictorial had crossed the line, commenting, "She has gone way too far." Another, avant-garde minimalist, lived up to his moniker with the simple question, "WTF?"
Although most fans were supportive of O'Day's choice to pose nude in the men's magazine, there was one common criticism: "Nice pictures. Why is she holding her mouth open through all of them? Did she get her lips done and can't close her mouth?" carriek wrote.
"I think it could've been classy if she would have kept her mouth closed or smiled," KT wrote. "She looks like she was trying too hard to be sexy, so it looks unnatural. Just my opinion."
One fan took issue with the reasons O'Day gave for posing in the magazine. "There is nothing empowering about posing nude or barely wearing any clothes," Bsmart18 wrote. "What's empowering is being ... sexy without having to strip. Anybody can take off their clothes and call that sexy. Not everybody can have their sexiness shine from the inside out. It's all about your swagger and confidence. I'm sorry, Aubrey ... you are speaking nonsense."
